The National Bureau of Statistics says the average retail price of a litre of petrol increased from N770.54 in July 2024 to N1,024.99 in July 2025.

It made the declaration in its Petrol Price Watch for July 2025, released in Abuja on Thursday. It stated that the July 2025 price of N1,024.99 represented a 33.02 per cent increase over the price of N770.54 recorded in July 2024.

Comparing the average price value with the previous month of June, the average retail price decreased by 1.22 per cent from N1,037.66, stated the NBS report.

According to the state profiles analysis, Jigawa paid the highest average retail price of N1,107.52 per litre, followed by Lagos and Sokoto at N1,100.29 and N1,100.00, respectively.

Conversely, Zamfara, Yobe, and Kogi paid the lowest average retail price at N884.63, N950.60, and N986.67, respectively, it stated.

Analysis by zones showed that the North-West zone recorded the highest average retail price in July 2025 at N1035.85, while the North-East Zone recorded the lowest price at N1017.65 per litre.
